Kelvin Ekow Baidoo Tailor, a US based Ghanaian journalist has decended heavily on leadership of the minority in parliament. According to the Loudsilence TV owner, the leadership of the NDC caucus in parliament is very corrupt. He described them as Ghana's beggest problem and until we do away with them, it will be difficult to move forward as a nation.
Kelvin was speaking on his evening talkshow With All Due Respect on his TV today when he made these claims. He stated that the Haruna and Muntaka lead NDC caucus was the weakest minority Ghana has ever had even though it has equal number of MPs as the ruling party. He wondered why upon this 137:137 split in parliament, the NDC was unable to hold Akuffo Addo government on its toes.
Kelvin alleged that, Haruna Iddrisu and Muntaka Mubarak were in bed with the ruling party making huge money from the goverment. This he said is the reason why the NDC MPs have generally lost its teeth inspite of the fact that it has the speaker on its side. He questioned why Haruna looked visibly angry when Okudjeto Ablakwa raised the issue of the cost of the president's travel. He wondered why Haruna saddenly became a spokesperson to the government answering questions posed by Ablakwa when the finance minister delayed in appearing before parliament.
Kelvin reminded NDC supporters the unanimous approval of all ministerial appointees of Nana Addo despite their poor performance at the vetting committee as well as their criminal records in the first term of Nana Addo. He also recounted the explanations that came with it that the party decided to drop that to protect former appointees from prosecution. He said Seidu Agongo, Dr. Opuni and others are still in court despite that supposed agreement.
To him, the single action of the NDC side of the vetting committee has emboldened the NPP government to loot more because the NDC which should had held it accountable had become a toothless dog. He described that as criminal and asked the NDC to change them if it wants power in 2024.
He also stated that the minority leadership were against John Mahama's presidency simply because he selected Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang as his running mate. He alleged that Haruna and Muntaka were looking forward to a muslim president in the future hence will support Dr. Bawumia any day against Mahama.
Kelvin Tailor concluded by calling on the NDC Regional chairmen and secretaries to begin the process of changing Haruna Iddrisu and Muntaka Mubarak. Anything short of this, Kelvin thinks will keep the NDC in opposition for the another eight years.
