President Applauds zoomlion over contributions to the containment of COVID 19 in Ghana

The president of the republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo has applauded the executive chairman of Jospong groups of companies, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong on their contributions towards the containment of COVID 19 in Ghana.


In his speech during the sod cutting ceremony to commence a 60 million Euros solid and liquid waste treatment facility in Asaakae in the Effia -Kwesimintsim Municipality in the Western region, the president described zoomlion's contribution as a "Patriotic Intervention".


The president added that, when completed, the Asaakae solid and liquid waste treatment facility will help to reduce the rate of solid and plasti wastes in the country. Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo added that, issues on sanitation is very important to his government hence the construction of the facility.


Aside the reduction of waste in the country, the president declared that, the Asaakae solid and liquid waste treatment facility, the president said "It is in line with my government policy of creating an enabling environment for the private sector to bridge the infrastructure gap".


The president added that, "Equally important is the fact that it will provide jobs for the people, potable water, good roads, which will help improve the water and sanitation situation in the municipality." He said, "it will create about 250 jobs for the indigenous and indirect jobs of 1500."


He urged the relevant state institutions to ensure that the construction of the project was carried out to the right specifications.


The president promised that Other facilities such as a training and research centre laboratory and 7.5 kilometre road from Asaakae to the waste management facility were also to be constructed.


According to the executive chairman of Jospong groups of companies, Dr Siaw-Agyepong, both treatment facilities will be completed within 11 months.He declared that the solid waste treatment will be completed by 3 months and the liquid waste treatment will be completed by 8 months,"


As part of preparations to ensure the protection of tertiary students after school resumes, zoomlion will begin the second phase of the disinfection exercise of all tertiary institutions across the country. This exercise scheduled to commence on Thursday 20th August, 2020 will start in the western region.
