The national communications officer for the opposition NDC has settled the debate on whether or not the nation should acquire a new jet. According to the marveric communicator, Ghana needs a presidential jet.
He was speaking with Bridget Otoo on Metro TV political talk show, 'One on One' on Monday when he made this statement. When asked his opinion about the discussion, Sammy Gyemfi said, "Ghana needs a presidential jet". The host interjected and asked if that means we should get one.
"Hold on, hold on. Ghana needs a presidential jet and we already have one thus the Falcon 900EX. We do not need to go and buy a new jet because our current jet is fit for purpose. It is air worthy as we were told by the defence minister. So there is absolutely no reason to spend huge amount in buying a new presidential jet", Sammy stated.
He accused the president of living lavishly like an Arabian King when Ghana is running to other nations with cups in hand for loans and aides to finance our budgets. He said it was ridiculous that Ghana's presidential jet will be dashed out to presidents of other African countries while our own president travels by rented private jets.
When asked if John Mahama will run for 2024, Sammy Gyemfi said he doesn't speak for the former president on his private life. However he will be disappointed if Mr. Mahama decides not to run. He said every NDC member will equally be disappointed likewise most Ghanaians.
On the performance of the minority in parliament, the lawyer said the NDC members of parliament have done well so far. He said but for the vigilance of the minority in parliament, Ghana would had lost up to $20m through the Sputnik V vaccine Scandal. Sammy alleged that the government deliberately entered into that agreement to loot the state. Unfortunately for the players, the vigilant NDC MPs brought it up.
