Former President, John Dramani Mahama has finally reacted to a famous nickname Ghanaians gave to him as a result of the frequent power outages (Dumsor) experienced during his tenure as the President.

Ghanaians experienced serious power outages for more than three years in the erstwhile National Democratic Congress government and it affected a lot of businesses and even individuals in the country.

As a result of that, Ghanaians gave the then President, John Mahama the nickname "Mr. Dumsor." Meanwhile, John Mahama while speaking in an interview with Ugandan-based NBS Television revealed that the said nickname was unfair and unfortunate.

“ I know the Mr. Dumsor nickname was unfair and unfortunate. We were consuming like 2600 megawatts and our production was 2300 megawatts, so we had to go through a period of outages. Now, what did I do? I took responsibility, I didn’t blame previous governments, I said yes you call me Mr dumsor, I inherited this problem but I take responsibility for it, and so I said I am going to fix this, by 2015 I had added additional 300 megawatts. I was accused of adding more megawatts,” Mahama boldly revealed this.

Thanks for reading this article. Do you agree that indeed Mahama is the real Mr. Dumsor?

Do you believe Mahama solved Dumsor before leaving office? How much did Dumsor affect Ghanaians and their businesses?

Is Dumsor returning under the current President, Akufo-Addo?
