President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on his 23rd Updates on measures taken against the novel coronavirus pandemic reaffirmed the directives on compulsory mask-wearing by every Ghanaian at public places across the country.
Prior to the No. 23 Covid-19 update, HE. Akufo-Addo instructed the Inspector General of Police (IGP), James Oppong Boanuh, to deploy police officers both men and women of the Police Service to ensure the rigorous enforcement of the law on mask-wearing at all public places and in public transport with an assistance from other security agencies, "if the need be".
However after such strict Covid-19 directives from the president, the Ghana Police Service managed to arrest Ghanaians who declined not to follow the safety protocols especially those who flouted the wearing of the nose mask.
Meanwhile there has been a purported receipt on social media platforms issued by Ho Municipal Assembly indicating that one "Dela" was ushered to pay Twenty Ghana Cedis "GH¢20" as penalty for disregarding the wearing nose mask.
The purported receipt was dated 5th February 2021 with receipt number " *18*/ 8563769".
Furthermore, it was not confirmed on the receipt either the culprit "DELA" paid the sum of amount "in cash or with cheque".
Although Ghana is still struggling in the fight against the deadly virus but its case count continue to spike as the country has now recorded 70,046 confirmed cases, 6,095 active cases, 63,502 recoveries with 449 deaths.
