Parliament has divided once again as to whether it was necessary to suspend sittings for a few minutes and later resume. Some sort of tension arose between the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, and the Minority Chief Whip, Muntaka Mubarak. Muntaka was of the view that the Speaker adjourn sitting to the following weeks since the members were tired after waiting for several hours. Muntaka expressed surprise at the sudden U-turn that the Majority Leader decided to make at the House after the negotiations which he made with Speaker Bagbin that the house adjourn sitting after taking three statements.
In response, Honorable Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu stated boldly that Honorable Muntaka Mubarak was misrepresenting what really happened at Speaker Bagbin's lobby today.
"I was not there when you people made the decision that we adjourn sitting for today. So do not bear false witness about me. The Speaker earlier told us that we can start the debate and he was ready to sit up to 12:00 midnight. That is why I am saying that nobody bears false witness about me", Osei Kyei explained.
