Police recruitment is currently ongoing in the country and all qualified citizens have been urged to purchase vouchers from the Ghana Commercial Bank and fill the forms online for shortlisting and eventual recruitment.
However, the North East regional chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, Nurudeen Fuseini, has warned the opposition, National Democratic Congress' members to stay away from the process and not bother themselves to fill forms since they will not be allowed entry into the police service or any security service for that matter.
According to him, the party leadership in the North East region will look out for names of all applicants who are supporters of the opposition party and get rid of their application. He went on further to say that even if you have spoken against the ruling NPP party in any way, your application will be fished out and discarded
“As you’re aware, recruitments into the security services are underway. I encourage all party members to send in their applications. If you had ever come out as an NDC supporter to criticize the NPP, we will fish you out and remove your application”, Mr. Nurudeen Fuseini said.
Mr. Nurudeen Fuseini also urged all members of the New Patriotic Party to apply for recruitment even if they do not qualify since they (the North East regional executives) will ensure they are selected for recruitment no matter what. In narration in which he said, they the NPP were willing to disregard every single process and act according to their own rules and processes as a political party.
“I have to be honest with you”, he continued. “For us as a party in the region, we will disregard the so-called due process, we are going to apply our set of party rules because we are in power”. Mr. Nurudeen Fuseini added.
This conversation came out when the regional chairman was answering questions on a myriad of allegations that had been levelled against him by party members in the region. One of these was the allegation that he was against the election of the vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the next flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party. In response to these and other allegations, he happened to have made these revelations.
The national executives of the NPP are yet to speak on the matter and as to whether they will associate or dissociate themselves from these comments, we are yet to find out.
Most NPP youth in the region are happy about the situation because to them, this is a typical 'job for the boys' as very political party does to aid the youth that helped bring them to power. But is this the right way to go as a nation? Creating a situation when only one political party has its members in a service as delicate as the police service?
