Hon. Kennedy Agyapong is the NPP member of parliament for Assin Central. The maverick legislator has served as a legislator for the then Assin constituency since 2000. When the constituency was splitted in 2012, he contested and won the Assin Central seat for the NPP. In 2016 and 2020, the businessman attempted to take a bow from parliament but his people didn't agree. He was left with no option but to contest again of cause he won in both elections.
The marveric legislator has announced his retirement from parliament after 2024. Speaking to some party faithfuls in Assin Fosu today, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong said he won't be seeking re-election in 2024 as a legislator. He said he didn't need to be a parliamentarian to impact in people's lives.
"Throughout my life, I have been looking for opportunities to positively impact in the lives of people around me. When leadership opportunities came, I didn't object it because I knew it could be another way of impacting to people's lives. Surfice to say, leadership is not the only way. So to me, whether I am in leadership position or not, I will still impact positively to people's lives", he told the teaming supporters.
He added that, he may consider contesting for presidency is the calls keep coming. He however declined to tell when he will consider that decision. For now, what we know is Kennedy Agyapong will not be in parliament in 2025.
