Deputy Minister for Defence and Member of Parliament for Atwima Kwanwoma constituency, Honourable Kofi Amankwa-Manu, has gone hard on people who are allegedly planning on Coup D'etat against the ruling New Patriotic Party.
Speaking in a interview with Kwaku Annan on The Seat Show on Wednesday, the Deputy Minister revealed the heated plots by some people working behind the scenes to raise tension in the country. Following the recent tension raised in Guinea after the Military takeover, which has brought sanctions to the Guinean community and has eventually led to their suspension in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) by other neighbouring countries, many people in other parts of the West African community who believe that there are some sort of economic mismanagement and high rate of corruption in the countries, have taken to several social media platforms to throw more weight behind the Guinean Military Leaders for taking over the Democratic regime and also join them in such exercise soon.
Many prominent members including Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has also stated that if steps are not taken quickly by African leaders to right the wrongs in the society, the era of military takeovers may return. It is respect to this that the Minister of Defense, Hon Kofi Amankwa is sending strong words of advise to anyone behind closed doors and planning of coup d'etat in democratic era, and has also assured Ghanaians to be patient as the Ghana Armed Forces will be on their guard to protect the country's security in order to ensure that there is peace and stability in the country.
