A Political Science Lecturer at the University of Ghana Legon, Prof. Ransford Gyampo has stirred controversy as he asked questions on some appointments made by President Akufo-Addo in his second term.
The renowned Political Scientist cannot fathom why former Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku, who was also a Deputy Health Minister did not get a Ministerial appointment.
Prof. Gyampo further asked whether winning a Parliamentary seat should be a condition for appointment.
He also cannot understand why the Finance Minister is a Minister eventhough, he is not a Member of Parliament.
Despite his inability to win the Ledzokuku Parliamentary seat in the 2020 Parliamentary Elections, a section of Ghanaians just like Prof. Gyampo see Dr. Okoe Boye as a one of the best Ministers in the Akufo-Addo Administration and were hoping to see him appointed as a Minister.
Prof. Ransford Gyampo, who is now the General Secretary of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), is of the view that, Constituency popularity should not be conterminous with competence.
Following the abysmal performance of NPP sitting MP's in the last elections, most of the MPs who lost their seats could not be appointed in the second term of President Akufo-Addo.
