There Is No Votes And Proceedings Anywhere In The World That Is Absolute – Bagbin.

The Speaker of the house of Parliament Right Honorable Alban Bagbin, has issued a statement that there is no perfect votes and proceedings, an official report capturing Parliamentary debate, anywhere in the world.

Mistakes, he stated, are assumed to occur therefore, provisions have been made available to right those wrongs.

The Speaker Bagbin issued out this statement in the House on Thursday March 31 after the Minority had said that votes of proceedings for Tuesday’s sitting was erroneous when the electronic levy bill was approved by the majority in the house.

However, the Right Honorable Alban Sumana Bagbin applaud the Minority caucus for bringing this up for the necessary corrections to be made.

“There is no votes and proceedings anywhere in the house of legislation that is perfect,” Mr Bagbin said adding that “…the draft is brought to the house giving opportunity to members to right the wrongs that they have been captured on the votes and proceedings.

“So appropriately, you have come and corrected, what you have done is right, we will go through properly and correct the errors,” speaker Alban Sumana Bagbin stated.

Initially the opposition NDC members in Parliament have sued the Attorney General after the approval of the e-levy by Parliament on Tuesday March 29.

The Minority caucus Leader Honorable Haruna Iddrisu described the approval of the electronic levy as unlawful and unconstitutional because in their opinion, the Majority caucus did not have the right numbers to pass the e - levy

“This is a charade,” he said at a press briefing in Parliament, adding that “there is no electronic levy.”

The honorable member continued saying that “The majority of less than 137 carrying out businesses only proceeded on unlawful and unconstitutional business. Parliament did not have the numbers to take any decision that should binding Parliament and Ghanaians,”

Please what are your thoughts on this issues of Parliament.
