On the Three MPs Case, the Minority wants Joe-Osei Owusu removed from the Privileges Committee.

Following the referral of three New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament to the Parliamentary Privileges Committee, the minority party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), wants the first Deputy Speaker of the House, Hon. Joe Osei Owusu, to be removed from his position and appointed as a chairman of the Committee.

This call came as Joe-Wise, as he is affectionately known, had made some public pronouncements indicating his inability to remain impartial in such serious matters.

The minority side's Honourable Dr. Clement Apaak made this claim in order to have the first deputy speaker recuse himself from the case referred to the privileges committee by the speaker of Parliament, Hon. Alban Sumana Bagbin.

Hon. Ras Mubarak petitioned the speaker, Hon. Bagbin, to have the absentee MPs appear before the privileges committee to answer questions about their absence from parliament without any notice.

Honorable Adwoa Sarfo, Kennedy Agyapong, and Henry Quartey are the members of Parliament facing the committee.

The minority believes that because of his ties to the members called before the committee, Hon. Joe-Osei Owusu cannot fulfill his duties as chair of that committee.

They believe Joe-wise will never advocate for retaliation against his own members.

If this is not looked into critically, the outcome will most likely not be supported by the minority side after making these claims on Joe-wise.
