The proposed 2022 Budget was rejected by a landslide victory of 137-0 votes in Parliament on Friday. In what was a walk out on their own budget, the NPP staged what history will forever remember. Many expected both sides of the House to come to a consensus before Friday but this failed and this caused a rather tense day on Friday. It was a long day of controversy and like what happened on January 7th, 2021, the NDC won again though with controversy.
Captain Smart today, Monday, November 29, 2021 on Onua Maakye has applauded the Mpraeso MP, Hon. Davis Ansah Opoku. According to Captain Smart, the MP was the one who saved the NPP from a bitter end and disgrace. He chastised the NPP for walking out on their own budget and said there was no way the budget could have been passed because it was a bogus and fraudulent budget.
He noted that had the ‘smart’ Mpraeso MP not acted, the Majority would have been disgraced. He wondered how a back bencher could cause a surprise and save the day for his party. Captain Smart called on the Majority to go back and work on the budget because the current rejected one would have impoverished Ghanaians.
It will be interesting to see what will happen on Tuesday. The Majority claim what happened in Parliament on Friday was a legality and will overturn it. however, with Bagbin out of the country and at most both sides having 137 MPs no decision will be reached till Bagbin comes unless allegiances change and one side wins.
