I Am No Longer A Public Officer -Charlotte Osei Tells Host on Joy FM

The Former Electoral Commissioner of Ghana, Lawyer Charlotte Osei in an interview said, she is now a private citizen and can do what she likes under the remit of the law in the country.

Speaking to Winston Amoah on Joy FM, she made mention that, she did not register nor vote during the December 7, 2020, elections. The reason is that, she went to the beach on the voting day with her children.

She added that, she is not paid to monitor the elections, and she is now a private person. This was after she is asked whether she monitored the election as the former chair.

“Am a private citizen and can do what I like, under the remit of the law. You are paid to do that work, but I was not paid to do so”, she said.

In addition, she claimed there are some reforms she wanted to bring in the electoral system, the unfortunate removal prevented her. Unfortunately, she could not disclose the reform.

 She also indirectly accepted her attempt to make ridicule, of the procurement bleaches of the Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang Manu. She added that, such comments once in a life is good, and what everyone sow, he will reap in greater magnitude.


Mrs. Charlotte Osei is a Lawyer by profession for more than two decades. She is a former Chair for National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Former Electoral Commission Chair, and now the she is the United nations (UN) International Electoral Commissioner.

She was kicked out of office as Ghana Electoral Commissioner because of Procurement bleaches. Madam Jane Mensa was appointed to replace her.

Today, she was invited by Joy FM to have a conversation about her life, happenings in Ghana and Afghanistan, just ended election, and many other issues. She touch most of the issues and shelved few of them for later. She wanted to be treated as ordinary citizen and not trying to create the impression that, she lost interest in the electoral processes in the country. Follow for more updates.
