What kind of society are we building in Ghana: A case of Rosemond verses the Republic of Ghana

When the issue of Akuapem Poloo came out social media went agog and so many people used unprintable words on her. But guess what the story has changed after she was being convicted .

Unfortunately, instead of us to focus on the substance and outcome i.e whether it's harsh or not some so called celebrities are now trying their possible best to compare her case to that of others which is sickening to say the least. Yes you have the right to sympathize with her but this wild comparison is borne out of ignorance. Does it mean that we should just allow people to do whatever they want with impunity?

In a case where a woman is convicted of a little offence the court is duty-bound by our laws to order a pregnancy test before sentencing a woman. Ignore the stories and claims in town including that that order is an indication of a certain intention of the court.

If she tests positive, it helps the court to either hand a non-custodial sentence or pass a jail term but suspend its execution until an appropriate time it will determine. In such instance the court has no sentiment and the same court that set someone free can equally convict the other. The law is in favor of all and against non. A convicted woman needs help not celebration.
