What had been a dream for people of the three adjoining communities of Agyan, Domunli, and Akonu in the Nzema east municipality of the western region has now become a reality when the Ghana National petroleum corporation (GNPC) handed over a 4-unit classroom block to the AD Akonu MA basic school which has been the first-ever basic school in the community.
The municipal Chief executive, Honorable Frank Okpenyen said Education has been the major tool that can be use to eliminate poverty among people and the development of a community hence government priority in the Education sector.
Adding that “the mere hint of the construction of this new facility along with the distribution of school uniforms by the government has markedly improved the attitude of pupils in the communities. There is no doubt that this will improve teaching and learning and our communities would be better for it.”
He further stated that the assembly is working seriously to resolve the infrastructure challenges that the municipality is facing for the delivery of quality and effective education and the completion of school blocks is a testimony to their commitment to building partnership with other development agencies to ensure the betterment of the lives of the people in the communities.
