See NPP's Nana Akomea's Brilliant Response to Samson Lardi on Trump-Biden Election Effect in Ghana

The United States of America has a lot of impact and effect on many other nations that their elections is a concern to all. Not leaving Ghana out, although a new president may mean different things for countries, Ghanaians have created a connection between the US elections and the Ghanaian elections.

Since 1992, any time the Democrats win an election, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) also wins. And if the Republican party wins, the New Patriotic Party wins an election. As such, in 2016, when Donald J. Trump led the Republicans to victory after a defeat to the Democrat, Hillary Clinton, Nana Akomea came out to say that the results has paved a way of victory for the NPP. As the Communications Director of the NPP, Nana Akomea told The Chronicle Newspaper in an interview that the fact that Donald Trump defied all odds to win the elections shows that Americans wanted change, and that was what would happen in Ghana as well. And indeed the NPP won in 2016.

For the 2020 US elections, many Ghanaians have drawn from it to predict the Ghanaian Election winner. As it stands now, Joe Biden for the Democrats is leading Donal Trump by a huge historic margin of votes. Joe Biden is however not yet declared as President although many have speculated that he has already won looking at the votes left to count.

Referring Nana Akomea to his comments in 2016, a section of Ghanaians have drawn their conclusions that since it looks like the Democrats may have already won, the NDC may win the 2020 elections.

However, Nana Akomea had a brilliant response when asked the question on Joy News' Newsfile on 7th November. The NPP top wig told Samson Lardi that, another interesting statistics hangs which the NDC do not know about elections. He mentioned that, since 1992, every incumbent president seeking a second term got Number 1 on the ballot box and went on to win the elections. As such, J.J Rawlings got Number 1 in 1996, so did President Kufour in 2004 but John Mahama did not have the number 1 in 2016 and that was why he faced defeat. However, unlike John Mahama, Nana Addo had the Number 1 spot and that the NPP is confident of victory. "I would like Edudzi to go and think about that." he jabbed the NDC

Representative of the NDC, Edudzi Tameklo was clearly of a different opinion and was confident there would be change in Ghana once the Democrats win the US elections.

What do you make of this? Is he right with this connection? Does it change your opinion on the winner? Comment below:
