There was one member of the majority in Parliament when the budget was rejected, said Bagbin.

In most of the interviews that the majority caucus of parliament has held, it all points out that the rejection of the 2022 budget was unlawful. Their claim was based on the fact that at the time of voting, the number of members of parliament present was not up to more than half.

The constitution of Ghana makes it clear that in the case of voting in parliament, the members must be more than half of the full house. The majority also accused the Speaker of Parliament of being unfair about his decision to conduct the vote even when the house was not complete.

The speaker has taken to his social media handle to make it clear that the rejection of the budget was legit and people should disregard the noise the majority are making. He said at the time of voting, the people in parliament were more than one 137 as the majority claims. He further stated that there was one member of the majority present when he was calling for the vote. Read his post below.
