Former Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu has been 'whipped' with accusations of having attacked the late President John Evans Atta Mills whilst in office as then Attorney General. His accuser, Paul Adom-Otchere described him as a violent person who needs to reflect on his his actions at his retiring age.
On Good Evening Ghana Show, Paul Adom-Otchere indicated that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service should have caused his arrest and prosecution then for having threatened an assault of the President. He indicated that records of his temperament is well documented and that he must be advised to be measured in his criticisms at public and political actors.
Adding to his wounds, Mr. Adom-Otchere argued that the former Special Prosecutor was more abusive or political power, adding that civil protests very furiously opposed during his tenure.
"You have done your worst it didn't work so stay there. Stop this business of I am writing an epistle to show that I am the most holy person in the Republic. You were an Attorney General, and the report that came out was that you wanted to beat up Prof. Mills. You are a violent man.
"The CID should have arrested you. You tried to beat the President in the castle. We know your history. Don't come and come and disturb us. The kind of things you filed at the Supreme Court opposing public demonstrations...we know what you've done. Don't come and disturb us. We respect you."
Paul Adom-Otchere's lamentations were provoked by a recent publication by Martin Amidu in which he bundled up accusations at the government, and more especially the President, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. He continued with an advice to Martin Amidu to refrain from his continued criticisms and rants about the Akufo-Addo government adding that, his attempt to discredit the latter during the 2020 election never succeeded.
"The battle is intellectual, and you really didn't succeed. I have to say that you failed and that you failed woefully. Because you felt realising these article in November was going to hurt the president's fortunes on December 7. The President came out and won a first round victory against John Dramani Mahama of the NDC. Maybe that worried you but it is ok," said Paul Adom-Otchere.
He mocked that Martin Amidu takes his retirement with some ease and enjoyment of modern entertainment shows such as United Showbiz, DateRush and sports. He charged that Martin Amidu guards his reputation against further 'baseless' accusations while he enjoys his retirement.
"As I keep saying relax the Premier League is about to start never mind.
"When you do that you begin to reduce yourself...your image among the right thinking people of our society."
