The Head of Programs At Despite Media Group, Afia Pokuaa popularly referred to as Vim Lady has threatened to lead a campaign in the Odotobri Constituency of the Ashanti Region against the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 general elections. According to her, the Member of Parliament for the area, Emmanuel Akwasi Gyamfi does not deserve to be re-elected after years of disappointment.
She intimated that Mr Akwasi Gyamfi has for the past sixteen (16) years and more, after being elected to lead the developmental agenda of the people in the area performed abysmally relative to his peers who just join the House of Parliament. Vim Lady emphasized that the people of the Odotobri Constituency despite being loyal to the NPP has never been rewarded commensurably with infrastructure development.
Vim Lady on Wednesday's Egwaso Gwaso show, scored that the MP and the District Chief Executive for the area are to be blamed for this disappointment. She emphasized that it would be a prudent choice by the people to seek a change, at least to show political parties and the politicians that they cannot be taken for granted.
“For Odotobri Constituency there is nothing to show for. No AstroTurf, roads and others. For that very constituency, I will personally be there to campaign against the NPP and their MP in 2024.
“Why should we continue to vote for the MP, and he and the District Chief Executive do nothing to help us? We cannot continue this way,” she fumed.
Vim Lady said she is justified to march against non-performing parliamentarians, adding that it is within her rights to demand accountability and responsible leadership. She compared the performance of other new parliamentarians as having out-performed the old ones including Mr Emmanuel Akawsi Gyamfi.
The award-winning journalist stressed that her campaign to name and shame non-performing parliamentarians and District Chief Executives is expected to spark a collective voice that will compel them to work. Vim Lady reiterated that there is nothing that could threaten her agenda, and thus urged the youth to “look sharp” so they are never exploited by politicians.
