Statement Release From The National Democratic Congress-NDC

The latest news, coming from the Head Office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), reveals that, the party has release a statement, to update the public on its ongoing membership registration.

According to the statement release, the NDC has extended the deadline for its membership registration.

The statement, which was signed by the General Secretary of the Party, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, announced that, "the Functional Executive Committee (FEC), at its sitting today Tuesday 7th June 2022, has directed all regional Chairmen and Regional Secretaries, to extend the registration of party membership by Ten (10) days; effective Wednesday June 8 2022".

It added that, "by this directive, the registration exercise will finally end on 18th June, 2022. Regional Chairmen and Regional Secretaries are entreated to inform constituency executives of this new directive. Teams from the National Secretariat will be dispatched to all constituencies, to monitor the exercise".

The Statement again warned that, "it is also FEC's decision that, serious sanctions would be meted on any party executive(s), who by their actions or inactions put impediments on the way of members who wish to register".

The National Democratic Congress (NDC), as a social Democratic party, is the second biggest political party in Ghana.

In it's quest to build Ghana and create opportunities for all, the NDC has opened for its membership registration across the country.

According to the NDC's 'MEMBERSHIP TERMS & CONDITIONS', "Membership shall be open to every citizen of Ghana, irrespective of ethnic origin, religion, place of birth, social or economic status".

The terms and conditions also states that, a citizen of Ghana may be registered as a member of the NDC provided that, such a citizen, "has attained the age of 18, accepts the constitution, aims, objectives, policies and programmes of the party. He or she must be accepted for membership by a branch of the Party; he or she must accepts the discipline and rules of conduct of the Party, and pays the subscription fee and annual dues as required".

The rules also says that, "No person shall qualify as a member of the Party unless he/she is a member of an NDC Branch, and must not be a member of any other political party".
