The Takoradi PTC Interchange, is the very first of such a magnificent road infrastructure in the Western Region. The project which is a three-tier interchange project and it's expected to be completed within thirty (30) months. But before I proceed with the specifications, let me share with you the mastermind behind this infrastructure.
In the 2016 electioneering period the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo compiled one of the most promising manifesto, a tool that would guide them in transforming the country, when it takes over from the John Dramani Mahama's administration.
Several committees were constituted to provide ideas that would support their agenda of change. Interestingly, the Member of Parliament for Essikado-Ketan, Joe Ghartey, was appointed the Chair of the Infrastructure Sub-Committee. It was through his contribution with the backing of the Member of Parliament for Takoradi, Dr. Kwabena Okyere-Darko Mensah that the idea of constructing an interchange in Takoradi, was birth.
Credence is given to this story by Dr. Okyere-Darko Mensah, [now Western Regional Minister] during a sod cutting ceremony for the PTC Interchange, today.
Western Regional Minister, Dr. Kwabena Okyere-Darko Mensah disclosed that his fellow but senior colleague lead the initiative in making the PTC Interchange an integral part of the New Patriotic Party's 2016 Manifesto.
"I still remember the day when I called Joe Ghartey in the evening, when he was the Infrastructure Sub-Committee of the 2016 Manifesto Committee. That was the day I called and said, make sure you add PTC Interchange. Joe Ghartey I thank you for adding it to our manifesto in 2016."
The first tier of the project will be a roundabout and it includes the provision of direct access to the Takoradi Market Circle through the liberation road. The second tier is to link the Agona Nkwanta Road to the Cape Coast road, whiles the final tier (third tier) will be linked to the Sekondi Bypass to the Axim Road.
Finding for this project lies in the famous $2 billion Synohydro Master Project Facility.
