Today, the 22nd day of November, 2021 marks the 70th birthday of one of the most prominent and influential figures in the history of Ghana, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang. She is an astute and one of the founding members of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) within the political ecosystem of the country.
As part of her birthday celebrations, her 'boss' in the last general elections who is also the former President of the republic and under whose tenure she [Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang] was a Minister of Education, John Dramani Mahama, has penned a beautiful birthday message to his running mate in the 2020 general elections.
According to former President John Mahama, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang's presence in mainstream politics and immense contribution to the overall development of the country has gone a long way to demystify the notion that women are incapable of delivering to all standards and that her her fame has risen beyond the stratosphere.
He said that her position in the field of academia, being the first ever Vice Chancellor of a public university in Ghana, the University of Cape Coast (UCC), her outstanding performance when she was the Minister for Education under his regime and many other roles she occupied effortlessly would continue to be an inspiration to not only the young other women and young girls but also to the country.
Many Ghanaians on social media joined the former President in celebrating the special birthday of Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang. She asked for God's blessings upon her life, her entire family and everyone she cares about. They also expressed their views on the fact that she runs with John Mahama again so that she can eventually become the first female president of the country.
But for the lost in the December 7 elections to their main opponent the governing NPP, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang would have become the first female Vice President of Ghana.
