EC's voters' registration is painfully slow - Hon. Sam Dzata George.

The Member of Parliament for Ningo - Prampram in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana Hon. Sam Dzata George has described the compilation of the new voters register by the Electoral Commission of which began today as a painfully slow process just to disenfranchise the good people of Ghana.

The Lawmaker in a Facebook post described the process as painfully slow with a sinister motive to deny Ghanaians the right to make a choice in the forthcoming general elections.

It could be recalled that the National Democratic Congress had vigorously fought the compilation of a new voters register in court and cited the exercise as an attempt to disenfranchise Ghanaians especially those without the Ghanaian passport and Ghana Card but lost.

The Member of Parliament cited the breakdown of machines at polling stations he visited and how the process had been stalled living registrants frustrated.

The registration exercise which began today is expected to end in the 6th of August 2020 targetting about almost seventeen million Ghanaians.

The Lawmaker maintains something should be done as soon as possible to fast track the process so as to allow Ghanaians register to vote in a free , fair and credible manner.
