The NDC Parliamentary Candidate elect has been restrain from swearing in into the 8th Parliament tonight
The presiding judge, Justice Kwasi Boakye ruled that Mr. Quayson was “restrained from holding himself out as Member of Parliament-Elect for the Assin North Constituency within the Central Region of the Republic of Ghana and further presenting himself to be sworn in as Member of Parliament-Elect as such until the final determination of the Petition.” .
The ruling NPP petitioned the minister of foreign affair in 23rd December, 2020 asking for an enquiry into the alleged dual citizenship status of the MP- elect for the Assin North constituency Mr Gyakye Quayson for owing allegiance to Canada prior to filing as an NDC candidate of the just ended parliamentary polls.
This is going to be a big blow to the ambition of the NDC for having the majority in parliament. Stay tune for more later
