It Is Unconstitutional & Reprehensible: Sammy Gyamfi Speaks On The Payment Of Presidential Spouses

Popular controversial Ghanaian Lawyer and the National communication officer for the biggest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Sammy Gyamfi has finally reacted to the ongoing brouhaha surrounding the monthly allowances of Presidential spouses in Ghana and it's causing a very serious stir online.

Few days ago, the Ghanaian government agreed to formalize the payment of monthly allowances and salaries of the spouses of the President and the Vice President. This means, Mrs Rebecca Nana Akufo-Addo and Mrs Samira Bawumia will be paid the sum of GHC 21,000 per month as basic salary and GHC 87,000 as monthly allowance and it will be back dated from 2017. This new policy has sparked a lot of controversies online as so many people think they don't deserve any payments and also a waste of the country's resources.

Despite being ill, fearless Sammy Gyamfi reacting to this issue said it is patently unconstitutional and reprehensible to pay Mrs Rebecca Nana Akufo-Addo and Mrs Samira Bawumia monthly salary equivalent to that of a Cabinet Minister. Particularly, given the fact that they are not Article 71 Office holders. Same must be withdrawn forthwith.

The NDC big wig also stressed that the wives of the president and vice president of the United States of America are not being paid monthly salary and allowances. He's literally waiting for the response of President Nana Akufo-Addo and vice president Bawumia because he tagged them to his post on social media.
