School authorities of the Ihyaa Ideen(YOUNG NAWARI) English and Arabic primary school in Tamale, are passionately appealing to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), to quickly response the school’s SOS call for support to reroof and rehabilitate the school building after it was ripped off by rainstorm on Tuesday. The school has its two classroom block completely ripped off forcing teachers to conduct teaching and learning in a near by mosque. On Tuesday April 13, 2021 Tamale experienced a huge rainstorm causing havoc to several properties. According to the school’s Management, they lack the capacity to get the school back to it’s original status hence their call for support.
An old student of the school, Yahaya Abdu-Rashid, told this portal that, the school needs urgent help in order to get back to normalcy.
“ I am calling upon the old students, PTA, philanthropic individuals and organizations to donate generously towards the rehabilitation of some classrooms which have seriously destroyed as a result of the recent rainstorm. The situation is so alarming to the extent that students who were in those classrooms have temporarily been relocated to other places; this therefore calls for urgent steps to rehabilitate the classrooms for the affected student to resume their normal academic work” he pleaded.
Old students association of the school, have begun mobilizing resources to rehabilitate the school.
Mr Yahaya Abdu-Rashid, has therefore appealed to the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly, National Disaster Management Organization, Member of Parliament for the Tamale central constituency, Ibrahim Mohammed Mutala and other benevolent to come their aid.
