Almost all communicators and officials in the New Patriotic Party have justified the government’s decision to seek IMF bailout to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian Ukraine war. They contrast that to the former erstwhile Mahama administration. According to them, Mahama’s government did not face any global economic problem like what the Nana Addo/Bawumia administration is facing.
A circulating video on social media which captured Bawumia making a speech in 2015 has vindicated Mahama. In the video, Bawumia did not only admitted that Mahama’s government faced a global crisi. But also, he made a statement that will and is placing the defense of his government’s communicators in a tight corner.
In that video, then running mate, Bawumia, asked and wondered how the NDC government could blame the economic problems Ghana was experiencing then to the global crisis every country was facing.
He asked how it was possible for the global crisis to skip Cote D’Ivoire and other country and only affect Ghana. Currently, this is the same problem and question the NDC is asking.
“The question that you must ask is that, how can global phenomenon skip Cote D’Ivoire and other countries and only affect Ghana? How? How does it happen?”
