The Vice president of the republic of Ghana Dr. Alhaji Mamud Bawumiah went on a tour today to see the progress of Ghana digital addressing system which is scheduled to replace the local Postal addressing system which has been in existence since independence. The vice president with the minister of Local Government Mr Daniel Botwe and other relevant authorities met the adom news team on the on thier way and they granted an interview.
In the interview, it was made known by the vice president that proper addressing is a major problem in Ghana and because of this, a lot of mishaps couldn't be curtailed. He stated that, the police, fire service and ambulance service need this type of addressing to be able to operate effectively. In the event of an emergency, proper direction or address will be very critical to an emergency response. If there is a proper address system such problems will be solved.
The vice president also stressed their partnership with Google to ensure that most of the country will be captured on the Google map. The creation of a digital address will aid this process and moreover, the database that will created will be associated with our National ID card to give proper location data for national ID card holders. The database that will be created, will be uploaded to Google for the process to be completed.
