2022 Budget approved without Minority in parliament

Parliament today, November 30, 2021 has approved the 2022 budget presented by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.

The budget which was rejected days ago in parliament under the watch of Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has been approved by parliament without Minority.

The Minority as reported earlier refused to enter parliament to discuss the budget.

The First Deputy Speaker who sat in for the Speaker on Tuesday said; “The House has adopted the Financial statement and approved the budget statement for the ensuing year ending 31st December 2021.”

“This house has approved the budget and economic statement,” First Deputy Speaker added.

The Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu had asked First Deputy Speaker to set aside the supposed rejection of the 2022 budget statement.

According to the Majority Leader, the rejection of the budget did not meet the test established under Article 104 because parliament as at that time did not have the required numbers in the floor of parliament to take decisions.
