These images of supposedly Ex-President John Dramani Mahama's E-Block in the background of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo are currently trending on social media. Many Ghanaians including the US-based Ghanaian journalist, Kelvin Taylor, and National Democratic Congress (NDC) activist, Yayra Koku have criticized President Akufo-Addo for having nothing to show that is why he using Mahama's project on an occasion like this.
This is what Kelvin Taylor wrote on his official Facebook page:
"Is that not one of John Mahama’s E-Block resting behind Akufo Addo while he receives his PhD? Why was the Toilet he has built not projected but the E-Blocks? We will talk about this Tomorrow".
Yayra Koku also wrote this on his official Facebook page:
"Just take a critical look at the ongoing infrastructural projects in Education. What do you see?".
Many Ghanaians responded to these allegations that indeed the E-Block is John Mahama's project. But before you make any further judgment, consider the image below. On Friday, 12th March 2021, GhanaWeb reported that "President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo completes 28 of Mahama's E-Block".
The truth of the matter is that Former President John Dramani Mahama started these E-Blocks but did not complete many of them. In view of that, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo started completing some of them, and by the hard work of his administration, they have already completed 28 of them. The President deserves some recognition for his contribution to these projects.
Ghanaians are the same people who accused the successor government of neglecting previous government projects and if continue with these attitudes, the rate of abandoned projects in the country will increase. In view of this, even if the E-Block project in Akufo-Addo background was started by John Mahama, the incumbent administration deserves some recognition completion. Besides, it was not the only infrastructure project in his background.
And take note of this, it will be difficult for a government to complete a project and name it after its predecessor. And President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will not allow a project he has no hand in to be used for this occasion.
