Mr. Gabby Otchere-Darko- has also added his voice to the intense argument currently going on, on the 2022 budget, which was first rejected by the Minority NDC caucus, on Friday 26 November 2021, and later approved on 30 November 2021 by the Majority NPP members of Parliament.
Gabby Otchere-Darko , who is the founder and the former Executive Director of the Danquah Institute, has justify the ruling of the First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei-Owusu (Joe Osei Wusu), after he counted himself as part of the Members of Parliament present to make the Majority in the House for the budget approval.
Mr. Gabby Otchere-Darko, who is also a leading member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), in his recent tweet stated that; “No, Minority Leader, the Deputy Speaker today did not vote. He was only counted as present in the House in his capacity as MP for Bekwai and he did not vote and needn’t vote because once half of members are present only the majority of that number needed to vote aye”.
Mr. Gabby Otchere-Darko, made this statements following the ongoing reactions from the opposition NDC, and some Ghanaians; that Honourable Joseph Osei Owusu has no right to count himself as a member of the Majority NPP caucus, during a decision making, especially when he was in the seat as the Speaker.
What are your views…do you think Honourable Joe Osei Wusu as a presiding Speaker, erred in adding himself to the NPP caucus to approve the budget?
