The minister for food and agriculture Hon. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto has caused stir for boasting about his chances of leading the NPP into the next election. The minister has been reported by many media outlets to have told NPP delegates in the northern part of Ghana that his research shows that he is very popular. He therefore told the delegates to vote for him since he is the ultimate winner in the next presidential primaries of the party.
"You will agree with me that research is very important. I have carried out series of researchers about my chances in the next presidential primaries of our party. All researches concluded that Dr. Owusu Afriyie is very popular. I therefore implore you to join the winning team", he charged the delegates.
This statement has caused a lot of controversy both in social media and the traditional media.
Many unfortunately are making mockery of the minister who recently stated that food prices in Ghana had gone down because his wife told him so. While addressing a press in Accra, the classmate and closest friend to the president said a bunch of plantain which used to cost GHC 40.00 had been reduced to GHC 4.00.
Taking to his Loudsilence TV yesterday, Kelvin Tailor said the motivation for agric minister to become president is President Akufo Addo. He said the two men were classmates and friends. He said Akufo Addo succeeded in becoming president of Ghana hence Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto thinks will too can be successful.
But in his opinion, the minister is not even qualified to be a minister in the first place. He said the the agric minister lacked the temporament of a minister yet Nana Addo insisted he must be his minister.
He advised Hon. Owusu Afriyie to save himself some money and energy by waking up from his dreams of becoming a president of Ghana in the future.
