There have been youth rants and protest across the West African Francophone and Anglophone countries for the same reason- corruption and poor governance. There is no doubt that the 21st-century youths have no stomach for poor leadership. This is why there was a coup in Guinea yesterday, Sunday morning.
However, reviewing the newspapers this morning on Media General’s TV3 “Newday,” Johnnie Hughes was sad with the degree of poor leadership manifested by some African leaders. As of now, some Nigerians don’t want to even see the image of their President Buhari. In Ghana, H. E. Akuffo-Addo is also facing the same fate by some youth groups with the name- #Fixthecountry. These leaders have things in common and this is how Johnnie described them:
“How come they see all the good things when in opposition but when they come to power, they…. I don’t know what to say. This Guinea President, Nigerian President and Ghana’s President Nana Addo has disappointed the youths and that is why there is Coup in Guinea right now.”
This is not the first time someone is disappointed in the President of the Republic of Ghana. The Director of the Kenya Anti-corruption Commission- Professor Lumumba has also expressed his disappointment in the President.
