A group of young members from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asawase constituency of the Ashanti region have requested for intervention from the national leadership of the party to address the ongoing conflicts between the Member of Parliament, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, and some of the executives at the constituency level. They reported that since the elections for the constituency, there has been a lack of cohesion and cooperation between the MP and certain members of the executive committee.
At a press conference, the representative of the group, Umar Harris, emphasized that the ongoing tensions between the Member of Parliament and the constituency executives could harm the party's chances in the upcoming 2024 general election if left unresolved. He urged the national leadership of the NDC to take immediate action to reconcile the differences and restore unity within the party.
In response to these allegations, a separate group of members who are supporters of the MP, have suggested that some of the constituency executives are attempting to damage the reputation of the MP. They also denied allegations that the MP was involved in the recent attempt by police to arrest the constituency Chairman.
