On Monday, May 16, he made the news on his television network. The NPP will choose its flagbearer for the upcoming elections next year.
In reference to the internal polls, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has instructed the NPP leadership to ensure that the election of the presidential candidate is conducted fairly.
He stated that fairness would limit the amount of divisions that the contest would cause inside the party. Mr. Akufo-Addo stated that, as with any competition, there will be disagreements within the party following the internal votes. However, he stated that the flagbearer should be able to unite all fronts.
"I'm hoping that the level playing field that allows us to elect our next president will also bring us a candidate who can bring our party together." Because competition will certainly produce some divisions within the party, we as the ruling party have a responsibility to conduct ourselves in a manner that reduces cracks.
“Cracks in the NPP can have a reflection on the state, we are the ruling party and if our base which is our party is fractured that facture can be translated into fracturing the state, nobody wants that,” he stated last year on Accra's Peace FM.
