A member of the New Patriotic Party has revealed that she does not have any sympathy for the ousted Guinean President Alpha Conde. Alpha Conde was removed out of office after a bloodless coup by the Military junta led by Mamady Doumbouya yesterday September 5, 2021. The Military Junta claim it took that initiative on grounds of economic hardship and corruption.
Alpha Conde was ruling for the third consecutive after he got the constitution changed to enable him contest again. He had ruled the country since 2010 and he was 83 years old at the time of his removal.
Contributing to discussions on the matter today, September 6, 2021 on Metro TV's Good Morning Ghana show, Ellen Ama Daaku, who is a Communication team member of the New Patriotic Party indicated that she has no iota of sympathy for Alpha Conde because of his conduct as President.
She indicated that, it did not make sense why an 83 year old would scheme up efforts to change the constitution only to contest and win again. Ellen Ama Daaku did not understand why Alpha Conde would do the very things he vehemently criticized his predecessors for when he was in opposition. She said Alpha Conde has himself to blame and should face the consequences there is.
" When you have leaders like Alpha Conde at 83 years scheming their way to change the constitution just so that they can contest again, it is problematic because he accused his predecessors of doing the same thing. You cannot blame the young men and women of Guinea. What sort of greed is that? The AU advised him against the constitutional change but he did not listen. Inasmuch as I disagree with the Military take -over, I do not pity Alpha Conde at all. I honestly do not have any sympathy for him," she reiterated.
Ellen Ama Daaku indicated that he is hoping the Military would initiate efforts to return the country to civilian rule as soon a possible.
