There has been a public outcry over the issue of the formalization and payment of salaries to the spouses of Presidents and Vice Presidents in Ghana and this has covered the frontline of all the local and some foreign newspapers. As expected, majority of the National Patriotic Party members have debated that there is nothing wrong with this payment. Today, vibrant and faithful NPP executive, Kate Gyamfua, followed the normal pattern and defended the First Lady and Second Lady; Rebecca Akuffo Addo and Samira Bawumia on The Dialogue, Net 2 TV. She expressed her disappointment in NDC communicators and Ghanaians for going to the extent of verbally attacking Rebecca and Samira. She revealed that they go to the extent of attacking Rebecca and Samira for applying makeups. She cited an instance where Ghanaians referred to Samira as "Make Up artist".
"There are several decent means to employ when speaking about a woman. I get annoyed when I see NDC communicators on radio and televison, speaking about the makeup Samira and Rebecca apply on their face. Don't their wives and mothers apply makeups when they are going to work? If you feel that your wives do not have makeups, go and look for some for them because the world is modernizing. I even did some before I came here. I applied make-ups. You can see Rebecca is very hurt due to the insults.", she explained.
Kate Gyamfuaa disclosed that she even applied some of the makeups before appearing at the studio. She stated that because of politics, politicians even forget that they are indirectly criticizing their mothers and sisters at home since they also apply some of the makeups.
