Defense Minister Updates Ghanaians On the President Jet

Ghana's Minister for Defense, Honorable Dominic Nitiwul, has released an update on Ghana's only Presidential Jet, Falcon 900 EX-Easy.

According to the Minister, the Presidential Jet would be undergoing some major repair works within the next four (4) months, and that, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, may be compelled to use commercial flights for all his upcoming foreign travels, for the next four months.

Speaking on JoyNews, Honorable Dominic Nitiwul revealed that, “By the end of this month, we will not have a presidential jet because the one we have is going to France for re-service; it’s one of the reasons the President will not use it for four to five months”.

According to the Minister, “We only advised the President not to use it for very long journeys, but all the movements within Africa, all the short movements within West Africa, that’s the plane the President uses”.

Honorable Nitiwul made these comments, following some reactions from the North Tongu Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (Ranking Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee); condemning President Nana Addo for using a chartered luxurious private jet for his foreign trips.

Meanwhile, a former Chief of Staff under the previous NPP Government, Kojo Impiani, has suggested that, an alternative method should be adopted to halt the extravagant lifestyle of leaders at the expense of taxpayers.
