IMF Delegation Visits Ghana Today

From now until October 7, a staff delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by Stéphane Roudet, Ghana's mission chief, is scheduled to visit Accra.

The staff delegation is expected in Ghana today 26th September and continue talks with Ghanaian officials about policies and reforms that might be financed by an IMF funding arrangement.

During the tour, IMF staff members will also interact with other stakeholders more.

The initial negotiations with the Ghanaian authorities took place during a staff team visit from the IMF in July.

“…We characterized that mission as constructive, kickstarted the process, and laid the groundwork for engagement,” Gerry Rice, the Director of Communications for the IMF told a media engagement ahead of this week’s visit.“…We characterized that mission as constructive, kickstarted the process, and laid the groundwork for engagement,” Gerry Rice, the Director of Communications for the IMF told a media engagement ahead of this week’s visit.

A $3 billion package from the fund is desperately needed by Ghana to support its economy.
