Koku Anyidoho, former deputy general secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) does not support the calls for the imposition of a candidate on the political party for the upcoming 2020 general elections.
Following the press release that Joseph Yamin and other leading members of the NDC calling on the NDC to use his excellency John Dramani Mahama, the former president of the Republic of Ghana as the flag-bearer of NDC , Koku Anyidoho on the other hand is saying he doesn't support that idea.
They argued that there is no one who is more famous in the party that John Dramani Mahama and for that matter it will be a waste of resources to organise primaries in the NDC.
Koku Anyidoho, speaking on okay FM in Accra in an interview, indicated that he supports the idea of an intensely contested primary to elect a flag-bearer for the NDC. he further stated that he has heard the leadership of NDC say that the thing will be open for contest and that has been his position. some of the reasons why some individuals say he is a traitor is because he has always insisted consistently for years, he added. He also stated that, in the past they used to impose candidates from parliamentary candidates to flag-bearer until they lost the 2000 election. when they went around the country they decided that they won't impose candidates again and that engage in elections to select candidates.
Talking of Kwabena Duffuor, Koku Anyidoho stated that the man has the credential as a sagacious businessman and someone who has manifested himself in the business environment and for that he believes Kwabena Duffuor can be a potential candidate.
