Road Accident

Assemblyman Battles Timber Truck Drivers Whose Timber Logos Fell Off And Damaged Building Structures.

The Assemblyman for Sokoban Electoral Area under Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) in the Ashanti Region, Hon Kwadwo Boateng says he is not ready to allow two timber truck drivers whose loaded timber logs fell off separately from their vehicles at Sokoban and caused damages to number of building structures to go scot free.

He indicated that until the companies of the drivers see to the need to compensate the owners of the affected buildings, he will not rest on the case.

Apart from linking the incidents to alleged careless driving Hon Kwadwo Boateng also attributed the situation to the bad road networks in the area.

Speaking to the correspondent the Assemblyman hinted that the current rate in which accident cases have been going on in his area gives him the courage to embark on demonstrations against the authorities.

This is because the attention of the authorities have been drawn in several occasions but to no avail.

The Assembly member of Sokoban Electoral Area explained that on August 1 and 3 2022, fence walls of some building structures in the area were destroyed by the fallen timber logs from the trucks

The first incident, he said happened on Monday, August 1, 2022 whilst the second one was recorded on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, around 4:25pm.

“Within two days, two timber trucks have accidentally offloaded their logs in my community and millions of properties have been destroyed, Hon. Kwadwo Boateng added in the interview.

And reiterated that he has reported the case to the police for further action.
