Abrogate The Contract Now; They Have Made Enough-Top Lawyer Tells Nana Addo

The concerns with the Frontiers Health Services contract with the State at the Kotoka International Airport gathers momentum by the day as individuals keep raising alarm on the falsification of results.

Initially, the contract was questioned and the President was accused of having a hand in the deal. All appointees denied knowledge of the contract during their vetting. There have even been allegations in the public space to the effect that, the owner of the Frontiers Health Services is a Nigerian and is wanted in Nigeria for some corruption related issues.

There have been questions on why the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research were not put in charge to conduct the covid19 test at the Kotoka International Airport.

The Ghana Airport Company Limited subsequently came out to indicate that, it engaged the services of the Frontiers Health Services.

A member of the National Democratic Congress legal team, Lawyer Eduzi Tamakloe, has called on the President to as a matter of urgency abrogate the contract and engage the services of Noguchi. That in his opinion, would rake in some funds to the state. He contends that, Frontiers Health Services is making huge profits at the expense of the state and so it would be prudent for a state-owned lab to be given the job.

He made this call on Good Morning Ghana on Metro Tv when hosted by Randy Abbey.

Explaining further, he said; " I have not hidden my complete disagreement with the work of Frontiers. I believe it is not late for us to abrogate that contract and allow Noguchi to do it. After making over $30m, it is good investment returns on whatever investment they might have made initially. We do not know the end date for this covid pandemic. It cannot be an opportunity for them to make money. I think that, the time has come to bring Noguch, owned by the Republic of Ghana to do the tests so that whatever profit goes directly to government coffers. I believe that, the President's friend has made enough and therefore Ghanaian workers should take over the management of that whole testing regime".

He expressed his surprise on how people appointed by the President indicated they did not know anything about the contract.

Indeed, if the testing at the airport is handed over to Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, to country stands to reap a lot of benefits.

What is your opinion on the matter?
