Yesterday, the member of parliament for Tamale south constituency who doubles to be the minority leader in parliament, Hon. Harruna Iddrisu reacted to a decision which was taken by the Akuffo Addo government.
During the Worker's day commemoration yesterday, the President of Ghana of pronounced to Ghanaians about his decision to freeze the increment of salaries of himself and some public office holders. "I have taken the decision to freeze salary increment for this year, 2021 for myself as president, the vice president, ministers, deputy ministers, and all appointees of the executive", he said.
Many Ghanaians, upon hearing this good news applauded the president for stepping in the right direction, until Hon. Harruna Iddrisu exposed all the tricks in the president's decision. The honorable member of parliament has reminded Ghanaians of the decisions the president took during the active era of Covid-19 pandemic. He reminded Ghanaians of how the NPP government is billing them in return of what he emphatically told Ghanaians that "free utility".
According to him, the NPP government is subtly telling Ghanaians to prepare for a something bigger the amount of salary increment.
While speaking to a Joy news journalist last evening, he angrily told H.E Nana Akuffo Addo to stop luring the ordinary Ghanaian. "You should go beyond this symbolic pretensions and engage in economic conversation, how to redeem the economy which does not offer hope for growth, which does not offer hope for addressing unemployment and redundancy issues", he said.
