Apologize to Torgbui Fiti And His People Immediately- Ablakwa to Akufo-Addo

The North Tongu Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has charged President Akuffo to immediately apologize to the Paramount Chief of the Aflao Traditional Area, Torgbui Fiti Amenya V for his comments.

President Akufo-Addo took a swipe at the revered Paramount Chief on Thursday for demanding that the abandoned E-Block project in his area be completed within the next four months.

Mr Akufo-Addo told the host Kokrokoo show on Thursday that Torgbui Fiti Amenya V does not have the authority to give the goverment an ultimatum for the completion of the project. He went on to sarcastically encourage the respected traditional leader to go ahead and complete the project if he is fustrated about the delay in completion.

But according to Mr Ablakwa, no chief in Ghana should be spoken to with "derision, disrespect and condescending".

The NDC legislator contended in a Facebook post that chiefs are custodians of the Ghanaian traditions. Therefore, they deserve utmost respect at all times regardless of which part of the country they exercise their authority.

In his view, Torgbui Fiti Amenya V deserves "commendation for his courage in speaking out against the reckless culture of abandoning inherited projects".

He added that it is the responsibility of the president to strengthen national cohesion. Therefore, his intemperate language deserves outright condemnation.
