Some online portals including mynewsgh.com have reported today that, the finance minister Hon. Ken Ofori Atta may resign on health grounds. According to the reports intercepted by CitizenOne, the minister is battling with end stage liver disease and has recently undergone a liver transplant.
Pictures of the 'all white' minister went viral recently where he looked differently. The minister had grown very fat even developing a pot belly and puffy face. Social media respondents had initially accused the soft spoken minister of 'eating' too much. But other reports suggested that the niece to the president was sick.
Later, a US based Ghanaian journalist Mr Kelvin Tailor alleged that the finance minister had undergone liver transplant. This information went unchallenged although he challenged anyone with counter information to produce same.
If the minister will resign, it means that the transplant was unsuccessful and he may require further treatment. That will hit him hard because he had buried his father a year ago after which he contracted covid-19 requiring treatment abroad.
His resignation if confirmed will hit the ruling NPP Government too. The man was described by the President as an asset to the nation. He is undoubtedly one of the finest brains in the NPP.
The practicing Christian needs the support of every believer in the form of prayers to go through this difficult time. We wish him speedy recovery.
