Former Central Region Chairman for the National Democratic Congress, Mr. Allotey Jacobs has told the host of Ekosii Sen on Asempa FM, Philip Osei Bonsu to stop mentioning the name of John Dramani Mahama to him.
Mr. Allotey Jacobs was speaking in an interaction on the program on Wednesday, February 17, 2020. According to him, he supported Nana Addo Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia in the roundup to the 2020 general election.
He adds that John Dramani Mahama was his good friend but not anymore. Mr. Allotey Jacobs who sounded very bitter noted that John Dramani Mahama has on several occasions denied him as a friend and that has made him decide to continue his life peacefully.
Mr. Allotey Jacobs added that he has been through a lot of experiences in the political journey and such challenges cannot break him in any way.
The suspended former regional chairman indicated that the NDC Party does not recognize his contribution anymore and that has made him to advise himself.
“Politics must accept a lot of people. A lot of ideas must be accepted. Nobody controls my life. God has given me the freedom to live as a human being so I will not allow anybody to control me. I’m not bitter but my party has ignored me. They wrote a letter to suspend me when I had done nothing wrong. The party took off my name from a program I organized. I was with John Mahama during the campaign at the time but it was not from my heart. Nobody gave me money to run a campaign as a chairman but people were spewing lies about me. I have advised myself. John Mahama was my friend but he denied me at many places so we are no more friends. So allow me to speak and stop mentioning the name of Mahama.
According to him, he did not support John Mahama in the election because he had no trust in him. Mr. Allotey Jacobs added that the current status of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) needs a total overhaul to be able to win power in Ghana again.
He noted that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has served as a better leader than John Mahama.
