The Operation Halt sent by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been encouraged to burn all excavators and illegal mining site that some people claim its belong to Mr. John Boadu. This comment came from Mr. John Boadu himself. The General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) argued that he doesn't have a mining site not to even think about illegal mining.
Speaking in a radio interview on Okay FM today, Tuesday, 25th May 2021, Mr. John Boadu stated categorically that he supports the government's decision to burn excavators and mining sites as a means of eradicating galamsey from the system.
When asked by the presenter that some Ghanaians have accused him of engaging in illegal mining, he told the Presenter that "For the benefit of the doubt, I charge the Military task force to burn all excavators and mining sites belonging to John Boadu".
According to him, the galamsey has done more bad to water bodies and forests, and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is in support of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's strategy to use the burning of excavators in fighting galamsey.
A lot of our water bodies have been polluted by illegal mining as the fishes and the living organisms in the water bodies are also dead. It will take a long time for these living organisms in the water bodies again to fill it again. It appears the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is not using partisan colors in fighting this galamsey. As many Ghanaians can remember, the National Women's Organizer of the party, Mrs. Gyamfua's excavators were burnt down to ashes by the Military taskforce some few weeks ago.
If it is true that, Mr. John Boadu is having also having a galamsey fight, then it will have been disastrous for the NPP because you cannot be a campaigner against galamsey whilst you are into the act by yourself. Ghanaians are grateful that, the General Secretary of the ruling party is in support of burning excavators to eradicate galamsey.
