In 2020, the actor entered active politics and ran for Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency on the National Democratic Congress ticket.
"I will relocate to #Ghana for @johndumelo's inauguration as President," Jon Benjamin replied to a Twitter user who inquired about his next trip to Ghana.
Mr Dumelo has yet to declare a presidential bid, but he continues to support former President John Dramani Mahama in his bid for reelection.
The former Ghanaian diplomat, who is both a critic and a supporter of John Dumelo, has criticised him in the past for his notorious V8 saga, in which a government vehicle was discovered in his possession.
When John Dumelo won the NDC primaries in 2019, Mr Benjamin used a tweet to congratulate his "good friend" and once again brought up the V8 theft story.
In reaction, John penned the following: "Jon Benjamin is a buddy of mine, and his tweets about me are complete nonsense. Though I am unconcerned, I have advised him to stop making such jokes because they are too costly." "
