Where is the rent allowance? Johnnie Hughes asks government.

It is a known secret that anything built on lies and deception will not last. That is why the good book always admonishes us to truthful. Sometimes it is painful to say the truth but it is necessary. It is better to be told the truth and cry than to be lied to and smile. The current NPP government promised Ghanaians heaven on earth. I can boldly say without any iota of doubt that the promises they made influenced the decisions of the majority of Ghanaians to vote for them. Many Ghanaians will agree with me on this. That is why I hate the kind of politics we practice here in Ghana.

The politicians have gotten their way with us and we have refused to learn lessons. They only make promises to earn our votes and forget about us after securing power. One of the promises the NPP made when they were seeking re-election was that they were going to help pay the rent of working Ghanaian youths. That was what TV3 journalist Johnnie Hughes reminded the government about in this morning's edition of his editorial Johnnies bite. He reminded the government of the promise they made and up till now, we haven't seen anything or any action taken towards that effect.

It is worrying. That is not the only promise they made. They are many. If they can do just 30 per cent of their promises effectively, Ghana will become a much better place. Their policies are very good. The only problem is the implementation. It is not enough to propose good policies. They must ensure its successful implementation. They should promise what they can do and what is feasible. They managed to roll out the free SHS albeit with its attendant issues. Now, look at the problems we are facing as a result. That tells us the program was not well thought through. That is what will happen if things are done in a haste for political expediency.
